where is it set?

Set- In the present day.

The location is set in High littleton in My Auntie and uncles house in Conna's bedroom which will then lead out into the back garden where the last scene will be recorded.

I have got permission from them both to record in their house and permission for the burning of the envelope as long as we got water to set it out with.

(Picture's to be added)

Everything in their house is all present day style and objects so being that it's set in the present day it works well really well for the film

Primary and Secondary

Primary and secondary research-

Research I’ll be doing is what the weather will be like. I want to see what last year was because it might be the same and look up on and see if there's an idea on whether it’s going to snow or not. If it does it won’t cause trouble for me so that ok it's still good to be prepare.

I might do some research on some mathematical equation to copy some down, cause even though I’m not planing on having that show, only the envelope It still might be good in case I decide to show it.

I’ll also do some research on cold fusion just so I can get an idea on what cold fusion is and what it does. Because if I'm filming it would be nice to know what cold fusion is.

Styles for the film

Styles
Camera shots:. At first it will have a POV shot up till he leaves the bedroom then their will be wide, glides, over shoulder, close up and extreme close up shots.

Location: Is based at Sarah and Terry's house (My auntie and uncles) the two main places that will have more filming time is Conna's bedroom and the back garden their will be parts of the house and outside that we'll see for a small amount. Because it's based on the present day it'll be easier to record because i don't have to change anything or hide thing for example if I was basing it sometime in the 1900s more of conna's stuff would have to go, or I might have came up with another story.

Sounds-Their will be talking and sound effects along with music in the background. In act two and part of act two it will just be music in the background up until the mystery starts talking that's when the music goes quiet so that you can still hear it but not loud that it overpowers the actor talking. Add music to characters and scene

Scientist- Calming and maybe a bit of intense music
Hitman- Dark

The rest will be some mystery and suspenseful. I think it would be easier one I have the whole film edited together then list to the different music with the scene  to see if it'll go but with this it gives me some ideas on what music it could be based on.

Brightness- My idea was to record the film somewhere midday because it'll be easier to record and getting the brightness on the camera just right. But I also like the idea to to do just as it gets dark so that when the scene with the fire is being recorded I think the darkness and the darken sky would look really good together. So I haven't decoded what to do yet but i'll most likey know when it gets to the day I record it.

Because we don't see the scientist it doesn't really mater what he looks like except he should have a Iphone because thats what most people have these's day. With the hitman I picture him to be all in black which is what I'm going to do.

Story

The story- The story is about a scientist who gets killed by a hitman who was sent to destroy the cold fusion results. With the envelope he calls up the someone who tells him to to destroy it. We then watch as he gets rid of the envelope.

Act 1-Scientist enter's his room looking for the envelope, he finds the envelope and picks it up, he then gets a text message, Pocketing his phone and envelope he turns to leave only to get stab

Act 2-Hitman takes the envelope and walks to the end of the bed, Phone someone, ends call picks up the bucket and exited the room

Act 3-Making his way through the house and out into the drive way then to the garden, Places bucket on floor lights the envelope of fire, walks awy to his car and drives of.

The theme to this story is dark because of the murder. It's not a completely silent film cause it act 2 and bear the end of act 3 there are sounds whether it's talking or sound effects. This is kind off similar to the film I wrote and edited last year where It has more music in the background then their is talking, but I'm very happy how it turned out so I think this will be good, maybe even better.

I think writing the script was easy because I knew where location was so I knew how to write along with using the different part of the location. I think this story will be easy to record I think because I did this last year this will be my way to improve it and using what I've and pass mistakes this story will be better.

Writing this script I did want to add a paranormal twist to it but found that it would fit right so I change. I don't normal like to write with someone getting killed but I think it worked well with the script.

I've shown the script to my cousin Conna (He's playing the hitman) and he really like it which I am glad.

Usually when writing I like writing about the paranormal so this is a change but I'm berry happy about how it turned out. I'm also going to copy and paste the script again and add camera shots to it so it'll be easier to know which scene has a new shot.

main characters

Main characters:

Scientist- You won’t see the scientist as this is a point of view so you’ll be seeing what he’s seeing. You’re only get to see a bit of his sleeve and hand. From the look of his room he is very tidy and organize. What he has with him is his phone and the envelope. Scientists will be played by both me and Jenna (Conna's sister)

Mystery man- He’s the main star, you’re see him in most of the film. He’s dressed in black and wears sunglasses. He's young, he shows no emotion in his facial expression nor in his voice when he talks on the phone. He'll ever wear trainers or shoes. Hitman is played by Conna (my cousin)

Requirements & Parameters

Requirements : What I’m going to need, Props wise is an envelope, a metal bucket, Lighter/match and fake blood.

What I do have is the metal bucket and the fake blood. I need to look for an envelope. The lighter I want the square lighter for the film thats what I want but if I cant find it I'll just go for the match

Costume-Black coat, trousers, shoes and sunglass. Thats all the things Conna should have or he could brow from his dad.
Equipment that i'm going to need is a recorder and boom mic.

Parameters when it comes to recording conna's talking part (Mystery man) it needs to be quite in the room. Need to sound clear so that when I edited the audience can hear him. I also need to make sure that When I add music into the background I need the music to be low enough so you can hear him talk but have the music loud enough so that you can hear it. The rest for the film you will only hear the music which should be loud but again not too loud. Last is the sound effect which at the end of the film you'll hear he walking away and driving off with the music being played in the background but not too loud.

Cold vs Fire short film

My film is about a scientist who gets killed because he made a breakthrough in cold fusion, and the hitman show how he destroys it.

2 characters, 1 is not seen the other you'll see thought out the whole film.

Location is in bristol at my auntie and uncle's house. Act 1 in conna's room, act two is the landing, stairway, sitting room and diner room. Act 3 is the drive way and garden.

Sounds are background music, sound effects and speaking parts.

Equipment which I got most of it except for a recorder and boom stick.

Props I need is an envelope, metal bucket, match/lighter and fake blood

Safety are because their will be a real fire I'm gonna need to make sure I have another bucket of water to put the fire out. Also the bucket with with fire in it will be on a concrete ground and not on the grass. Everything else in the house is safe.

The script is all written, the title is called Cold vs Fire. I'm going to copy the script and paste is on google doc and then add camera shots so that I know when and what camera shot I'm doing.

Evaluation game board

With creating the game board I use photoshop along I also created the logo and counters.

Board game

Using 200x200 square for the board I wanted to make it colourful so I did a 20x20 (something near to 20) and did 10 for a row and column different colours, I then did the same for the second row but swapped the colours around. Now not wanting to do this over and over again I was taught away to copy and paste it altogether. So I right click and press duplicate layer Which I used for most of the board game.

Once the board games was down I then started looking for image for board. At first I wanted to draw the images ( Glass, shaker and straws) But because it didn't look right I decided to go on google and look up the  images I would need for my board. Finding them was easy, attaching them to the game board was difficult. With the images I need to cut out the background only leaving the image behind, Now because the mac was slow it would take me a while to do. Eventually I did it but then I tried to attach it to the board it would go behind the board which really annoyed me. I ended up taking an image of the board on the mac and creating a new page the same size, This time added the image worked all i needed to do was transform the size so that it would fit into the boxes.

The next was the liquid which is being poured out of the shaker and into the martini glass. At first I did try and look for an image on google which I did but having to cut the background and and then adding on to the board game was causing trouble because the liquid was being poured downwards and so when it needed to be curves it wouldn't happen so again Ty showed me another way which after seeing what it would look like I actually liked better. What I needed to do was go on filter and then go on to liquid, Well first I need to draw the liquid on the board from the shaker then go onto liquid thats when I need to create the liquid which involved stretching it and make swirls in it to make it look better then just being poured straight into the glass. Another tricky part was trying to get the drawn liquid into the the glass so when I was down I pressed ok to see and sometimes I would need to move it so that's in the glass.

Looking at it now i do wish I had picked a better colour, not blue cause that would have looked like water but another colour might have looked better.

Once the board was completed and the numbers were added on I then moved on to the counters which was mostly easier but had it moments. I already knew what garnishes I wanted to used it was again getting rid of the  background Now again the mac was slow so it took awhile to cut out. One it as all done I then made A circle for the counter but drawing one then duplicate layer to make 6 counters. Not wanting it to be white I added light grey for the background which I think goes well with the colour of the fruits.

The making of the cards were all hand made I brought the colour card paper, which I then cut them out along with my mum who helped. Using google I found different cocktails and the ingredients which was very helpful. writing them down I also need to give it a point for how many moves. With the well know ones I gave it ever a 1 or 2 point and for the one that I think would be harder I gave 6, 5 or 4 point. After getting enough drinks I moved onto shots in which google wasn't as helpful, but luckily I knew where to go instead which was tipsy bartender which has loads of different shots and ingredients. Once they were all written out I didn't think that their would be enough for people to get to the top of the board which is what I added the dice back into the the game, but also added new cards but ones which questions relating to cocktails.

With everything finished all I needed to do was to print it out, which sadly did work for me and the printer would stop working every time it went through. So it wasn't till the week after on Monday that it finally printed off but on the wednesday I was off ill So i couldn't let other play it but I did play it with my mum and it turned out to be a lot of fun.

I think that this game would be a big hit for different people and they would have a lot of fun playing it.

Test audience research game board

Using google forms we need to come up with 5 questions relating to are game and get people to answer them using Facebook. These are the question that I came up with for my questionnaire.

Getting my response I only got 2 people to answer my question which is not a long but some did answer the differently.

Some of the answers were not what I was expecting like the one with the who do you think would play it and I got elderly and adult, which surprised me cause I thought I would of got Adult or young adult  but the elderly surprise me. Even the how would you describe the game and one of them put down as wouldn't play it, but it's better then saying its boring I guess.

Also because we were meant to play them in class but my didn't print out and the next time I was off ill but I did lay the game with my mom who i think enjoyed it, We did have a bit of a laugh playing the game and I did win both times, I think it's because i wrote the cards out I knew most of the question. Play the game we only went up the straw around 3 time thats for both games and one time down the shaker. Either I didn't put down enough shakers or not enough straws. the only problem wit the dice was that When he flipped it we got more of one side then the other which meant to spent more time rolling the dice then answering the question.

But at the end it was really fun, Mum thought it was a bit hard because she not much of a drinker she didn't know most of the drinks, so with that I found out if you don't drink or know much about cocktail you'll not going to get most of the questions.

Board game Cocktail-shaker and straws

My board game is a remake of snakes and ladder in which I called it cocktail-shakers and straws since their replacing the snakes and ladder.

What I've added to the game is questions so as it starts you flip a coin and whatever it lands on will decide whether you roll a dice or answer a question.

There are 3 types of cards Drink, shots and questions. The drink and shot cars are the same, On top is the name of the drink/shot and underneath is the ingredients in which another player needs to read out so that the player who's go it is has to guess what the Drink, shot or question is. You get 3 guesses; If you don't get the answer right the question go to another player and they can guess it.

If you get it right you can move how many spaces it say on the card. You can not look up the ingredient to find the shot/drink or the answer for the question.

Added Figures: Cards, Dice and coin. These are the main things needed for the game. It was just going to be questions but I decided to add the dice back in because I think it would be easier to play the game. The coin is what you use to find out if you roll the dice or play a card.

Head- roll the dice
Tail-pick a card

The card can not be picked by the player who's turn it is, it has to be someone else who playing so they can read the card to you. The cards and dice are included, the coin you have to provide yourself.

Game board and counters

This is the print out of my board game and on the sides are the counters for the game; They are a bit big but I'm happy with them, I think my game board came out great, It's colourful with more then 4 colours and with the liquid swirls and the shake, glass and straws. I did try to draw  the shakers, glass and straws but they never came out right.

Rules- These are the rules to my games I think their easy to understand along with the picture of the card showing what they will look like so people know what to say and what not to say first, like the drink or the shot name.

Logo- This is my logo for the bard game i draw a martini glass, margarita glass and a hurricane glass because to me they are more well known along with the garnishes. I think I could have made it better is if I added writing to it like a name and made it into a circle with a different colour background.

Evidence of research board game

With the board game I did research by looking at different boards to see the colouring and how I could make mine different and more different from the old snakes and ladder game.

Other research were for the cards like ingredients for drinks which I found of on Google the shots were found on the youtube show Tipsy bartender. Google really help because it gave me differing kinds of cocktails along with the ingredients so I didn't need to do much research just to find he ingredients. With google to loo up shots that did really have any so I used Tipsy Bartender which I was original was going to use but I thought most people might not watch Tipsy Bartender and won't know most of the drinks so i tried finding well know drinks and shots. For the shots tipsy bartender was my go to cause I knew they had a variety's of different shot. With the question I thought of them myself along with a little bit of help from my mum who came up with some good questions

The last thing is that I need counters but not plain ones I wanted it related to cocktail and of course all cocktail comes with a garnish which I thought was the perfect image to have for the counters.

After figuring out everything all I need to do was create everything. I was going to create the dice but my nan found one and let me use it for my game. Last bit of research was looking up game rules then creating my own for my board game.

My Rules

Analysis game board

For may game board I needed to think of what kind of game I wanted whether it was a re-make or  my own idea. I first came up with my own board game involving different cocktail question but relising that it would be difficult  I decided to re-make snakes and ladder that way the I knew what it would look like and what changes I need to do.

Knowing what I wanted my board to be I also needed a twist so that it's not the same type of board and make it more fun for  people the age of 18 and over so I decided to get rid of the dice and swap it with questions relating to drinks, shots and question so that way it's more fun plus if you wanted you could take a shot every time you get the answer wrong to make it even more fun to play.

Nearing the end I relised that when making the cards I hadn't thought about the amount ofpoints their were and is it enough to get to the top. You could repeat the questions again but if you do you'll going to remember the names of the ingredients is you are not taking a shot so I added back the dice to the game and made a rule that you needed to flip a coin and what ever comes up you need to choose what heads and tails belong to.

Board game production research statement

With game boards they are usually aimed at young children's, families, elderly and  others, but I think the 1900's that they were more based on families and young children. These's day their are all types of games with aimed for everyone but usually the old fashion type games are still, i think aimed at families.

The game board I am re-making is the snakes and ladder games which is an board game originally from India, which by years and different counties the styles changed. This game is aimed at families to play altogether whereas with my board, you got to at least 18 or over (depending the drinking age in different counties) to pay this game so not really for a family unless their all grown up's but for parities or christmas or just having a night in with some friends.

My audience that I am aiming at or I feel would like this games are

18 and over (drinking age around the countries)
Females (maybe some males)
Feeling like people who enjoys making drink/shots so I think maybe bartenders and people who likes drinking or who like watching bartender shows, like Tipsy Bartender.

Making the board game I wanted it to be colourful then the snakes and ladder board because with cocktails they are a variety of colours with cocktails and shots so that why. I changed both the snakes and ladders to straws and shakers because they are more related to cocktail. So ladders are straws and snakes are the cocktail shake with the liquid and martini glass.

I also gave it a twist by adding questions as well as a dice, making it more fun for people.

Animate Shap tween

This is my Shape tween. What I did was make a key frame, then I wrote my Initials with the brush tool. I did another key framed  for when I do the create shape tween, This way you can see the ME for a bit before it transform in the circle. Doing a third line for the circle I place on top of the ME.

What could have been better if the E didn't fly away and also transform into the circle along with the M.  What I do like is the colour change from a dark red to a bright blue  I think it works well.

Waiting

For the still I made so that he closes his eyes and opens them back up. Using Anima I made one layer for Diablo And layer 2 for his eye lids. Because the cat wasn't doing anything I highlighted layer one to 49 so that it would stay on the page. Making the eye lids I created a key framed and then drawn both the eye lids over the eyes. Moving the lids over onto the white page I used the paint bucket to colour it in complete. I then placed them above the eye's and then created a another key frame and move them down I did that all the way till both eyes were cover then I did another key frame but this time I moved the eye lids up so that he's reopening his eyes again. At the end I added a frame.

What I could have done better is the speed, I think that it could have been a bit slower. I am happy with how it turned out, but I also think that If i was better at drawing I could have added something to the eye lid to make it look a bit more realistic instead of looking blank.

Ia'm happy with my drawing I think it came out really good, I think I could of made the fur colour near to the face colour. I like the tail and the 666 but the body I think was not the best colours to uses cause I was using a siamese cat.

Cartoon christmas films

Merry Christmas

I still hate it. It's not christmasy at all, I would not show it to any young children even with the christmas tree and present it doesn't feel christmas, more for halloween. The drawing was really good I just wished he/she would have made a better film instead of the non-christmas cartoon I just watched. The music in the background did go along well with the theme of the film Christmas and creepy, But still didn't like that either. I felt bad for the child in the film and thank god it's not real.

Santa's Workshop

This one was a lot better, it felt more like christmas. It had the the nice bright colours and the cheerful characters. The drawing was really good there were a few repeated movements but with it being toys it worked well. I think that for when it was drawn Walt Disney did a very good job and with the added colour it made it feel even more christmasy then it would have of it was in black and white which I think is why Disney wanted colour to give it that extra christmas feel to it.

Their wasn't really any talk but mostly singing which again I think made it better with the christmas feel. With Santa's laugh it was repeated a few time which shows when marking the dolls showed he was happy with them and didn't need to say. I also think that because he laugh a lot was to make others laugh as well.

Production sound creative images

I'll be using my portrait film whith has different sound affects from bottle's slamming down to ice being dropped into a glass cup to liquid being poured. All these sounds can be used in a bar scene with the bottles slamming could relate to a customer maybe slamming their glass down or just sounds like someone is in a mood and are slamming their bottle down in angry.
If you were not looking I feel with part of this film it could sound like someone was in a bar which shows these sound effects could be used again. On youtube it is louder mostly the sound effects then then the music which is not nice to the ears.

This is the audio and film. With the audio I have felt that the sound effects are a bit too loud and could have been lowered. It's mostly the slamming and ice that are quite loud.

The music I think is not to bad I think if the effects were lowered it might have sounded better together.

Soundtrack research

I am using the film the conjuring for how the audio/soundtrack is used for the audients to identify with the characters

For starts the music they used for when the family moved in, it was 60's/70's music just nice calm music that you would listen to when moving into your new home.

When it got to the scene where the mother is pushed down the stairs and when she climbs back up them the music is more sinful more scarer expressly when it's in the dark and the mother is screaming

Audio for when they at the end you hear the sound of the music box playing which again gives it a more creepy vibe to it at the. Even though the family survies and are no longer endanger it still leaves you with that feeling you got from half way into the film.

Another is the whispers when you hear the women saying "Look what she made me do" making a whisper instead of a normal volume talking it gives it that haunting feeling. Another is the when the tape player comes back on and all you hear are screaming, crying and the "Look what she made me do" It makes you feel like you're in the room and also feel the fear when hearing it.

I think The Conjuring is a good movie to use for the audio and soundtrack because it has all different styles and different audio that gives audience the fear feeling of being in the house. I think general that Horrors are better to identify with the characters.

Podcast on previous project

For my podcast we had to talk about a previous project that involved a soundtrack and audio because that is what we needed to talk about. I choose my film Envelope of love which I made back in Level two media. It has both soundtrack and audio which I could talk about which was good, It was easier that I had something I could talk about and had plenty to talk about so it was a good choice.

For background music I used the same music that I had in my short film, I did change it when I wanted to talk about another piece of music so that it was heard. I along added sound effect and Tobie's voice from the film again because I was discussing it and so I added it so that it could be heard.

This is the link to the Podcast

Car Race

In Animate I drawled two cars along with a background and had the two cars move so it would look like they were in race with each other I did separate layers for the cars and the background. Because the background is not moving I highlighted the row and key framed it so that it would be seen throughout the whole thing. I started with the blue car (layer 1) to be in the lead but have the red car (Layer 2) speeds ahead of him making it him winning the race.

I did add the background last cause I wanted the road in the animation so I Because I had already drawn the cars I took them of the screen just so I could draw the background. Once the background was all drawn out I brought the cars back on the screen I notices that they went behind the background. So I tried moving the layer 3 down below the other two layers which word. That was something I leaned and now that I know I will be using again if I suddenly decide to add a background to the animation.

Cat character

Todays lesson Steve got use to create a character that we will be using to make it move. The characters could be either an animal or human. My character is a cat which is called Diablo. I drawled it out by using a siamese cat, It's not complete the same as the image but I am please with how diablo came out. Making it more my design I've given him a red tail and on it's tummy I've written the number 666 which means the devil number.

Using Illustrator I drawled the outside of the cats head, I then copied and past it and then added colour. Again I copied and pasted the head again and added the body to it. Drawing the legs was difficult because I was using the image to help, the only problem was that the both cats were facing different direction, so i ended up using reflect and changed my drawing around so it's facing the same way as the image and then drawing the legs was much more easier.

Animate Penguin standing on a rock

This was the penguin climbing onto the rock. Doing this I draw the penguin first then I key framed it. The second thing I did was move the penguin along and then started to draw the rock only showing a bit of of it; then I key framed again and the same thing over and over again. As the whole rock got near to appear all together I started to add more rocks to make it look more real as well as adding different colours. Getting to the end I added a famed for where it ends.

I think things that could have made it better it that I could have mad e the penguin looked more like it was moving and not sliding along the page to the rocks. Another is when it gets to the rock it jumps onto the rock I think I could have made it a bit better maybe added small rock for it to climb onto the big rock.

Recce's

For todays lesson we had to walk to the crescent and the circus. At the crease we were told to take picture of an area that we used in a period drama/scifi film.

After walking around the crescent we walked over the the circus where we discover that it was dark at the circus then the crescent because the area is small the area in the middle is crowed by the trees and the buildings are tall which also hides the sun.

I think the reason why the Crescent has more light then the circus is because the crescent has more open area and it's not so crowded like the circus, It also has more area to film that takes the modern styles away, if you feel it right

Reasons for recce's is because when filming on location you need to look at an area before hand. One is permission which is important because if you record on private properties you could get kicked off half way through filming or get told that you're not aloud to used the footage that you recorded.

Once you get permission you can then move on to the next step which is health & safety, space and planning the day you want to record as well as checking the weather on that day. Dependi
