Because I made a book I was told it wouldn't be needed so I just put my trailer up.

Screencast 2, 6
This is my screencast I did, talking about the 3 different research I did to help my FMP.
The first one was the book printing websites, How I looked up on google and found Doxzoo the reason I chose that website was because of the good review and that you could get an instant quote.
Next was the website Grammarly, I found this advert because I wanted a good website to help with my grammar and spelling. Plus of the amount of time i've seen the trailer I decided to give it a shot. I also used it on old stories I had written which had been checked on a different Grammar checking websites and i found more mistakes then what the other website showed me.
Lastly was youtube because it had clips of a haunting and paranormal witnesses. These two were very helpful for when I needed information on exorcist or possession. These were better because instead of going on google and reading up I get to hear from actually people which i think is better then reading up.
Screencast 3, 9
This 1 of two of my screencast. This is me talking about the development of my book from a chapter timeline, to every chapter written to being and actually book.
I first talk about the chapter timeline on the google, then then move on to the page with all the chapters combined and lastly the video of my book.

Reflect 4, 1
For my FMP have I have decided to do both publishing and moving image. For publishing, I have written a book called 'Polly'. For Moving Image, I have made a book trailer for my book. Originally I was planning on just writing a book but when we were told we had to relate it to the course you want to do in September (moving image or publishing) I had to then add moving image as well, which is why I am making a book trailer to go with my book. The theme for both projects is paranormal, the genre is Horror/thriller it all involves hauntings, possession, demons, exorcism, ghost hunters and death. My reasons for having it themed paranormal is because it is something I find easy to write about, it's something I know about and won't mind doing research on. It's also easier because, for most of it, you can use your imagination to create how you want the apartment to be haunted.
5 strengths
1. Coming up with a story; For me when I have a theme and something or someone to base it on I find it easy to come up with a story idea like the one for my FMP.
2. Coming up with a book cover design; Even though I ended up using the design I made for the back cover. With the sketchbook, I had in my mind of what I wanted for the cover it was just drawing it down onto paper. It wasn't that difficult and it was easy to do.
3. Coming up with a trailer plan; I think when it came to what I was limited to like, no one to act in it, so I had to think of the main things in my book that I can use to put into the trailer like my doll. So I mainly based it on her and I think the trailer looks good.
4. Music and sound effects; When it came to finding the right music piece for the trailer I find it easy to pick out what piece would sound great with the trailer, plus with getting good feedback about the music piece that also helps. With the sound effect, I'll admit it was hard trying to put in words on what kind of sound I wanted but I did find goods sound effect, not quite what I had in mind but it sounded good and it went great with the scene I sync it with.
5. The photo shoot; How everything was arranged looked great, how everything was placed I think looked good because it wasn't all levelled so I think it made it look better than what it would have looked like if everything was all places on the floor.
5 weaknesses:
1. Knowing the pixels for images; Because I was having trouble on the day of doing my photoshop and my camera's memory card missing. I ended up using my phone thinking it would be alright obviously it wasn't, so I had to re-take the photos again and it also wasted my time when I was editing the old photos for my front and back cover.
2. Using InDesign; Even though I was already planning on using it, I wasn't using it right for my book so I ended up having some help and learning how to copy and paste all my chapters onto InDesign quick and easy.
3. Filming the trailer; I think that when it came to actually filming I didn't think about the background or the brightness. Because I was mainly focused on getting different camera shots I should have thought about how to not see the background, because I think the background ruined it for the first trailer. Whereas with the second I had some help with ways to making the room darker and keeping a close shot on Polly.
4. Making the trailer understandable; Feedback I got for my first trailer was that it was hard to understand what the book was about and again because of the equipment in the background some even though it had something to do with the story. This is also why I added the summary to the second trailer was to help make it more understanding on what the book is about.
5. Coming up with a summary, Even though I have a summary it did take a while on what I should write and even now I think it could have been written differently maybe better.
What was the main idea from the theme? Can you describe it? Can you reference any influences here? (artists, directors, animators, brands etc.)
The main idea for my FMP was my Doll, Polly. She was the main focus on when coming up with a story, it needed to somehow have her as a doll that is possessed by a demon, with this idea it also had to be related to a haunted house or apartment. They were the main focus the rest was just added on when I started to think of the chapters.
Influences I would say is Paige McKenzie, she is a YouTuber best known as Sunshine from The haunting of Sunshine girl she is also an author, The haunting of Sunshine girl, book series.
Her show it's based on her house which is haunted by ghost and demon, but then finds out it's because of her and what she is that ghost and demon are attached to her. I think because of her haunted house is what gives me ideas on different hauntings I can do and being that she is the only author I know who's written a book about paranormal and that I have read show that there are others who read or writes about paranormal.
What experiments and exploration did you do (what happens if). How did it affect your development?
Experiments I did was my photos for the book covers. After the first images failed, I did another photo shoot with my camera, What I did was change the setting by giving me different colours and the brightness to see what I could get, but at the end didn't like any of them. I with the front cover of just Polly I tried to add the demon mask into the shoot but it just didn't look right I wasn't that much of a fan. I did get the right picture for my front cover, but only by accident since the camera was being slow.
Another experiment I did was with my story when I was trying to come with a story for my FMP it first started with having a family move into a new house, with a dark past and that the mother finds Polly in one of their moving boxes and gives it to her daughter. I then decided to change it when I couldn't think of anything for some of the chapters. I then went with a group of friends, on Halloween plays with an ouija but something goes wrong and a demon goes into Polly that one of the girls brought from a charity shop that same day. This idea I like but I still wasn't sure. I then found an old story I had started and was thinking whether to use that but Polly wouldn't be able to be in that story, so I didn't bother and stayed with the other story. After a few changes, I got the story I just wrote.
Find a similar type of design publication - place it next to your own - what comparisons/difference can you identify?
Just want to say I have never heard of her until now and have never seen this book cover before.
This book, Annabelle is a fiction - horror. My book is also a horror.
The author, Ruby Jean Jensen, all her book are paranormal and horror, which is what I like to write about.
On the books, similar's are that they both have a dark background and a doll in the centre. Another is the title both are a name, which is also a difference since mine is called Polly and hers is Annabelle.
Our names are in different places, her's is below the title whilst mine is at the bottom of the page below the picture of Polly.
Also with her image of, I think is Annabelle is that she has a noose wrapped around her neck, which is a bit creepy, whereas mine just has the blur effect, which I think is equally creepy.
I do think her font and colour she used for the title looks better and spookier then mine.

This is the back covers for both hers and my book. The similar is that we both have the summary on the back.
The differences are that I have an image whereas her is covered with the summary, the word in large 'Annabelle' and the barcode code and the background is plain black. I also notice that her summary is placed in the middle whereas mine is placed on the left
One similar is the pink writing, which is the same colour I used for Polly's name because it goes with Polly's dress.
It is weird seeing the similar in our front cover with the dark background, the doll in the centre and the title is also a name. The title is really not that weird since I'm sure there are other authors who's used names as a title, but just the doll and the background, and I've never seen nor heard this book before so I didn't copy it.
What were the key areas of development in this project? - use your daily reflections to help you with this
I think the key areas was getting my story all written up I think that was one key development because without the story I wouldn't have had the book, It was also that I had planned on getting it all written up in the easter holiday but getting it done on the last day before the easter holidays started.

Another key development was my book covers, without them again there would have been no book or a book with not cover but just a title and a summary. Because of the first one's not being usable I had to re-do the shoot which did cost time, especially when I wanted time editing the first two. But because I already knew what I needed to do so it didn't take me that long to re-do the edits like the brightness.

They are both very different from what I originally had and what I did the second time. You can see some of the objects have been placed on a different side or not laid out like before.
For my trailer, I think when I made the first trailer and placed it in the questionnaire that was a development because it got to the point where I could get feedback and find ways to making my next one even better so that was a key development in ways to make something better.

What was it like when you showed your product to friends and peers - how did that make you feel?
With my 1st trailer, I only showed it to my mum and nan. My mum said it was good and she jumped a bit when end scene came with the hand coming down onto the doll along with the sound effect sync to that scene. That made me happy because of she hard to scary so that even thought it was a small jump I still scared her which I wanted. When my nan saw it she said that it looked creepy with the music in the background, she also jumped at the same scene, She's easier to scare. She called me a weird person, which made me happy because it made them jump and it was different. With the book, my mum was with me when I opened the package. I was very happy when I saw them, they were thinner than what I thought they would be but they came out great. My mum said they looked really good and that the inside looked good as well. Even my dad said my book looked good, which made me happy.
The final trailer I've shown my mum and she really liked it, she liked it better then the first one because the fact it was more darker.
She also liked this scene, because of the writing and the muisc in the bckground.

What could you change about the work produced to improve and develop it?
I think one I would have tried to change would be my book trailer. I think that could have been improved maybe by telling the story in another way maybe having as women who're putting together the ritual which I think might give people an idea that it was somehow based on paranormal or horror. Maybe I should have come up with more ideas instead of doing the first one I came up with.
I think maybe my book cover could have looked different maybe I could have thought of another design when I had to do another photo shoot or maybe for the back I could have tried to do what I originally decided to do which was to add a wooden floor and draw part of a pentagram onto it.

Review your statement of intent - what changed, what developments did you make, did you manage to complete everything you set out to?
Looking back at my statement of intent I can see that I have completed everything I wanted to do. The only change is that I would have to add was Screencast since I didn't put that down nor realised I would be using it. Another was photoshop which I put down to use for my book cover, I didn't use at the end and just kept with using lightroom.

Reflect on your pitch to the client; how did you feel about it before? Did it go better or worse than you expected? what was the feedback from the client/lecturer? what do you think you could improve next time?
My pitch was talking about what I was doing which was Moving image and Publishing and that the project was writing a book and creating a book trailer. I made one slide based on publishing (book) which involved the theme and genre, chapter's character and deadline I had for myself. There was also another slide with both the book covers front and back. There was a slide with the research I did for the book and trailer, Like the website, I would be using for to print my book along with the size of the book. Research for my story and the name of the demon I was using Belial. The last side was for the book trailer which had the sketch, the deadline, main focus and the props I'll be using. Doing the pitch I was very nervous, thought it was only Steve and Ed I was still nervous, But once I started talking and doing the pitch it wasn't as bad. I was very happy when it came to an end and all was left was for them to give me feedback. I think it went well I was worry about not knowing what to say but once I started talking it was easier and seeing the slides made it easier to talk and not forget about what to say. My feedbacks were that my book front cover could be improved (that was the one that didn't have the blur effect) and there was some worry about the amount of time I had to write my story since I had 12 chapters to write. I think next time for ways on improvement I could have maybe talked a bit more about the trailer.

3, 7 Modification
From my blog before 3, 6 talking about feedback on final product. I wrote about the trailer I made the first time, after getting the feedback I went and made another one including some of the feedback i got and keep some originally because of the good feedback I got. I think this one people will like more because it has more information about the book and it's more creepy which might not be a good thing but it goes with my book.
Other modification I have done for my FMP would include my book cover's, which partly wasn't by chose, just because I couldn't use them but the others I did, similar but were better.

My schedule 2,
When we all started the FMP I made a schedule of everything I need to do and when it needed to be done. I had already started the FMP so the writing I had already started.
This is what it looked like, I had it colour code so that that it would be easier to understand what was done, almost and not started. I wrote down dates on when I would be starting each project.
UPDATE
Now finished almost everything my schedule is almost all green. Some of the dates have been changed like the book writing, I had originally thought it would be done in the easter holidays but was able to get it all done before then which I was pretty pleased with myself but I couldn't get it to print off yet so it gave me time could it proofread.
Both project (book and trailer) for my FMP is done all that is left is to finish writing my blogs, 1 last screencast and take a few photos of my book.

Book trailer
This is my book trailer for Polly. In the trailer it has different camera shots of Polly, along with the end it has a text of when it's coming out and the summary of the book. Why I added it is because someone said in the feedback that I could add writing so that people could understand what the trailer was about and that's what I did.
Polly 'Book trailer' 2nd
Older Trailer 1st
This one (below) was the first trailer I made, it was also the one I used for my questionnaire. My reasons were so that I could get feedback from other so that I could get an idea of what people think about it when they see it. I did get some nice feedback but also some helpful feedback which I used (some) for now actually book trailer
Between the two trailer they are both very much different, my 2nd trailer is darker, more information on what the book is about and it involves the demon mask I designed (mask has a part in the story) Whilst the other trailer I think looked good, it didn't look as scary, it was bright with no information about the book making it hard to understand what the book was about. Also was the equipment in the background lead someone to think maybe it had to do with a filming production or photography, which it wasn't
Book
This is a picture of my book that I wrote and designed. My reasons for why I wrote it so that the theme is paranormal is because Paranormal is what I have good knowledge of, it's something I find easy to write about and something I know about. I could have written maybe a crime drama book but that I think would involve a lot more research and longer to write whereas the paranormal is easier plus I can make up what happens which I know I could do with writing a crime drama book but I think it would mostly have to be based on some truth to it.

Proposed research techniques 2, 2
Trailer
For my trailer, I decided to do different camera shots of Polly, plus adding background music and sound effects.
For the camera shots, I will have to look back at my blogs to find the camera shot blogs, this will help so when I do write about my trailer I can write down the names of the different shots I did. Another is to go to google and look up different camera shots, that way I can get other shots or if I do random ones I have a name for it. This will help give more detail on my blogs.
Research again is the music because of the theme of the trailer I need to find music that relates to horror, paranormal and thriller. Now lucky for me I know two websites, free sounds which have links to sound effects and music and incompetech music which is a website filled with different themed music and different instruments used. This will become useful because it helps with the different sound and different instruments that could go well with my trailer.
Another research technic is to listen to other themed music from films or TV shows, to get an idea of what I want for my trailer. For instant films like insidious and The Conjuring, they're both related to horror and thriller which is what I want. In insidious, there's a piece of music I like that I think would go well with a scene in my trailer,
(Between 1:36 - 1:44)
It's another reason why I should listen to it, to help get some idea's to find what music could relate or try combining a few to get the same effect maybe not the same music but the feeling you get when listening to it.
My reason to also listening to the Conjuring is because their both different sound, insidious has only string music (violin) whilst The Conjuring has a variety of instrument and choir and singers which give it their own theme. With that, it helps with coming up with my idea on combining some sounds together and to get the effect you get when hear the insidious clip.
I will also putting my trailer on a survey to others feedback about it and then make some changes so that it will be better then the first one. This will come in very useful to help make my trailer better.

Book story information
For my book, I will need to do different research for my story. These are hauntings, ghost hunting equipment, exorcism, possession because it can be used in my story and help with describing what's happening or what is being used. With the haunting, I don't really need to do a lot of research the haunting because I can use my imagination on how I want it to be. Mostly for all this, I will be using google to look up information but I will also watch documentaries for ghost equipment (Ghost Adventures) exorcism (paranormal witnesses) and possession symptoms (A Haunting). Ghost adventures because they all hunt ghost and so when they get their equipment on the screen it writes down what it called and Zak explains what it's used for, so this is very useful because it's based on real information. Again with the other two, it is told by real people so again this is very used because it's true facts told by people who experienced it or does it for a living (Exorcist)
Spirit Box (helps communicate to the spirits)
Another research I'll need to do is related to printers, a website that will print your own book out. This will come in very useful for when I finish my writing and book cover, it will also reach one of my goals to actually print my book out into a real book and hopefully look really good for my FMP. It will be done by google and choose the right website will be based on reviews and what book styles they do.
Book covers
Because I had already started drawing out what I wanted my cover to look like I didn't need to do much research; The only kind of research I needed to do is to find way to not have all the objects levelled, (I didn't want everything to be on the floor but kind of stacked so that some were higher than others). I did have trouble researching it because I didn't know what it was called and ended up getting results I didn't want or wasn't related to what I wanted. I did, however, when it came to the photo shoot, used my black shelves for the objects to go on and was able to get the style I wanted.
Another research I did (but didn't use at the end) was a way to have my dolls face so that it has a motion blur effect so that it would look like her head was moving fast. This would come in useful because it showed me what it would look like and that it wouldn't look right and gave me time to find another way's to give my front cover the effect I want.
For my trailer, I decided to do different camera shots of Polly, plus adding background music and sound effects.

Screencast one
This is the Screencast I made for my FMP it's me showing and talking about the 3 different plans I did for my FMP on different software.
In this screencast is me showing the different plans I did before starting my book and book trailer. 1 was the different research I would need to do for both my book and my trailer, 2 was both the plans and schedule for my FMP including in the plan characters, software, equipment, websites mostly anything that I would need. On the schedule, it has everything that needs doing for my FMP like the writing of each chapter and the deadline for finishing the story, editing te trailer and sending the book to the printers.
Lastly is the chapter timeline I created before starting to write the story, I do this so that When I do start writing each chapter I'll have an idea of what each chapter is about and not wasting my time trying to think of ideas for the chapters whilst in the middle of writing them, this would have wasted me a lot of time if I didn't do the chapter timeline.

Story and book covers
As of now my story has been written, combined with the covers and sent off to get printed by doxzoo.
Google doc,
This Is where all my chapters are saved along with others relating to my book. This shows that all pages relating to chapters are all filled with writing and done. Another page is titled all Chapters where I have combined the chapters together with Polly, another but with my name and a small quote. I placed each chapter on it's own paged since thats what it could be in a book and it would be easier to paste on InDesign.

This is also from google doc it shows the amount of word I have written in a number of pages it needed for the whole 12 chapters.
Because of the pages being A4 it's less pages. In Trade 6x9 inch (size of the book) it's really 59 pages.
Book Trailer
That's still in the works, I've got one trailer up, from the first time I made it. I wanted to get other's feedback about what they thought about the trailer and what I could do to improve it, which I'll be using for my second trailer in hope to make it better.

2nd Trailer
Book delivery I've also sent my book to the printers and it should be coming any day soon. Because thats been sent it means that my story and book covers are all finished with.

UPDATE
My book has been delivered, and this is the photo of it

This is the front of my book, I think it looks good. Maybe the pink could have been a bit more paled but other then that I am very happy with how it came out.
The back cover I think looks good the picture looks great. My only problem was the spine which is white and also goes over to the back cover, for me it's not a big problem because it could have been worst so I am happy.

The inside look great, the pages look bright and the writing is just the right size so that it's big enough to see the writing but not big enough to take up the whole page.

Technical and aesthetic qualities fit for purpose 3, 6
With my trailer, once it was edited I placed it up on youtube and created a questionnaire for others to fill out. Because it wasn't what I had wanted it to look like I wanted others to give me their feedback so that when I make another one it would look a bit better and maybe easier to understand what the book is about.
This is the feedback I got from my questionnaire.

Also by the feedback, I got for the trailer I would say that not a lot of people would read my book because of it too creepy and they're not into horrors.
With the feedback from the 1st trailer, I hope to make the right changes so that the 2nd one will be more understanding and more like a book trailer that people would like to read. With the good feedback I will try and keep as long as it goes well with the 2nd trailer, like the music that seems to be something the feedback approve on so that will be something I will be keeping.
Project managerment techniques 3, 1
To help keep track on what I've done and what still needed doing. I created a schedule for myself on google sheets where I could colour code what I've done, still needs finishing and not done at all, plus it also good when it come to setting out your own deadline for each bit of the FMP that needs working on and it helps with deciding on what needs to be starting first and what can wait.

FMP Schedule
I also think that when it came to the different lesson with different teachers it help to focus on one task at a time if it's something that a teacher knows about then it's better to work on that part of the FMP so you can ask them if needed help. I think that help for when you have a different thing to get on with it's easy to choose which to work on at that minute.
Another I think is Grammarly because when I write out my chapter it saves it on the website so it help for when I log in I can see what I need to carry on witting or what I needed to start writing

Trailer
When it came to making the trailer I had a storyboard drawn out with what I wanted and the names of the shots. It was something that was in my mind and I decided to put down on paper.
When it came to making the trailer I had a storyboard drawn out with what I wanted and the names of the shots. It was something that was in my mind and I decided to put down on paper.
When it came to actually filming the trailer I wrote down the shots I wanted and then did some other random ones in the spare time.
On my sketched storyboard I added another shot for the ending which I added to the storyboard.
Then lastly I re-did the text's for the trailer by including an ending for it, saying when it's coming out.
So all this is ideas for what I want my trailer to look like, some I might not add but it's mostly the base of what will be going into my trailer. I will be doing a google form and might make changes if I have time.
Book cover
This is the sketch I did for what was meant to be my front cover, ended up being the back cover. I had actually started the sketch before coming up with the story. The main point of the cover was the doll Polly because I also wanted Polly to have a main part in the story. All the objects around were stuff I owned and thought would look good on the cover.
Now front cover
This is the front cover I sketch after I found the photo of Polly. Seeing that photo, I thought that would look perfect for the front and use the other for the back cover. With the photo, I decide to sketch out what needed to be added and what I might add to the cover. Along the way, I also added the book size I wanted when I found the book cover and the website.
Equipment
For both back and front cover, I used a black background material to give it that spooky effect. For the back cover, I had two black shelves for that it wasn't all level.
In the photo is,
Polly
lantern
decanter x2
owl box
voodoo doll
record player
For the front cover, it was only Polly.
Home and college
The equipment I used for both the book cover and the trailer were both from home and the college. For my book cover, I used my canon camera along with my photo shoot equipment.
With the trailer, I booked equipment out from the college because I needed to use the M011 room for me to do the trailer in.
Canon camera
Tripod
camera lens
Story based
This is the chapter timeline I made in Google doc. when I came up with the idea on what my book was going to be about. I did have a few other ideas for the story but when it came to writing out the chapter timeline I found it hard to write what could happen in the later chapters so I ended up changing it to the story I did now. I wrote the chapter timeline before I started writing the story because I find it easier to write down what's going to happen in each chapter and how it's going to end without writing the story at the same time as trying to come up with another chapter.
