First time
When I first thought about the book cover I had done a sketch of how I wanted it to look and though about what would be in it which mean thinking about what I had at home that would right in the photo.
When it came to doing the Photo shoot I wanted it to be dark and creepy so I used the black background material for the background. Next was getting the items. Picking the object I had sketched out like the owl box, decanter's, Both dolls and lantern. I then decide about adding the record player to the cover because I thought it looked good together plus the voodoo doll could lean on it so it could be seen. What I also wanted was to have some objects higher the other cause I didn't want it all set out on the floor. I did try and do some research but I couldn't find what I was looking for or nothing was what I wanted. At first I was going to use boxes but never got any, then I found the square black shelves that hadn't been fixed to the wall and so I used those's for Polly and the lantern which I think looked good plus it goes into the background so in the pictures with Polly on her own it makes it look as though she is floating.

When it came to taking the photos I took them on my phone. What I had trouble with was that I couldn't get the effect I wanted when the background was just darkness and not be able to see the material in the background but still have it bright so that the object are still visional. But every time I couldn't get the effect I wanted because of the window above was shining the light down making the fabric visible. I also took some on my camera to try and see if that worked but it didn't.
I then took some picture of Polly on her own and somehow I was able to get the background right and how I wanted it just not for the right photo. (Picture above)

(Talking about the back cover image)
Using some of the adobe (Lightroom, Illustrator) I was able to change the brightness at the top to make it a bit darker but it still wasn't what I wanted for my book cover so when I looked through the rest of my photos I found the one with Polly on her own and that's when I decided to make that my front cover and the other photo for the back cover (Didn't even think about the back cover until then). So using the Illustrator I added the summary about the book and that became the back cover.

For the front cover, I didn't have a sketch because I didn't originally plan on having it as a front cover, but I did a sketch of what I had and what would need to be added on and what I could add on (the eyes in the background).

I did end up leaving it as just the doll and just added the title and my name I didn't use Lightroom because I didn't think it needed it. I chose pink because it went with her dress. I used this font because I thought it looked nice and different.

When it came to assembling it all together I was told that I couldn't use the photos because they were taken from my phone and the pixel was low so they wouldn't work so I had to retake the photos with my camera.
Second time
For the second time, I used my camera to take all of my photos. There were a few accident shots where my camera wasn't working (Must have changed the setting and not realise it) so some were blurry. Once the camera was working probably I was able to get a few good ones. What I was worried was that I wouldn't get the same effect with the Polly doll like I did on my phone but lucky enough I did and was happy with them.
Going through the photos my mum pointed out to one of the blurred ones and said that it looked like a demon or spirit was coming in/out of the doll. Because of that feedback, I decided to use that photo because it had the cool effect that I wanted.
Original photos
Back Front
For both of them, I used the light room. The back cover to make it darker and to get rid of the material in the background. Front to darken the doll a bit and the cut the blurred effect down and away from the top each of the book.
Edited photos

Lastly, I put them on InDesign and added the summery for the back cover and the title and my name to the front cover.

On both the sketches there were some difference's and changes I made for the covers like with the back cover I was going to using the internet to put a wooden floor including part of the bottom part of a pentagram but ended up using the whole black background and forgetting the pentagram. Another was changing the photo to become the back cover and not the front cover like I original planned it to be.
For the front cover it was just going to be Polly just sat there and maybe some eyes in the background beside her looking straight at the audience. Another was the blur effect which was the blur effect which makes it, I think looks better.
