Reflecting on research and how helpful

From my primary research, I wanted to find out how popular our short stories book from the groups I have joined to friends and family. The idea was to see if anyone would be interested if I wrote a short stories book. would they read it.

The questions also related to the genre horror, and if people were not interested in the genre, what could I do to help make it sound more appealing to them? Also, my title survey, because I have a list of different titles I wanted to get others opinion in which title seems better and it'll help me chose the bect one for my book. With the bookshop, it was more again the popularity of short stories and horror and mainly both together. It will help me understand if they are maybe more popular then what I think or like I thought and not as popular as novels.

The secondary research I wanted to find other self-publish authors. Authors who give they own tips and personal advice. Reason's why is because even though I know something things about how to write and how to get my book out there but hearing from someone who's have done it and also sold quite a few books is very good to list out the things needed to know. I might not use all his advise but most would.

I did provide primary and secondary research. For the primary, I created surveys and asked questions on Facebook.

For secondary, I listed out what I want to find then find self[-publish authors that have an article or a blog that has them talking  about their own experiences and giving advice that they do. Another was looking up authors who 'WROTE' short stories (not collected) and see the price, advertisement, and a bit about them.

At this point, it's the primary because it helps with getting an idea of what the audience is looking for, what is needed to help get the people who don't read short or horror, what people like about short stories, horror?

From one of the book covers, I used as an inspiration because it was drawn. It was created by Wildan Rayusman. With his book cover, it looks to be drawn, and I think painted (maybe water paint) How get designed it, like without the title you could tell by the cover that it's a book on something scary by the old, border up mansion and the green hand coming out of the ground. Again by the drawing, it looks to be that the audience is for children because of the way, it is drawn.

Now for my book cover, it is not meant to be aimed at kids, but to adults but the reason I used it as inspiration is that it shows that book covers can be drawn it just depends on the style of drawing that will help with attracting the right audience.

I am happy with producing my media product, now that I have more information on why people do/don't read short stories and how to improve it. With that information, I can use that to my advantage on making my book better and helps me have an understanding of what people want in a book.

The three most important findings I have discovered is that more people have read short horror book because it shows me that they do get read quite a bit. Finding the right audience, when looking up Facebook groups (horror groups) because I have found so many but one, in particular, were mainly based on horror books and I found a lot of them read and have short stories horror books. And lastly looking up different book cover because when having a themed (car to road journey) it really helps to look up over and take inspiration and tip on how how they created theirs and see how much of an effect they put into it or how wimple they are that it still gets the massage out there and still looks good.

Mainly my book covers have changed. Because of the ideas I had, I had to research to find videos that could help me get the results that I am after for my cover. Problems were not finding videos or when copying the person, it wasn't going right, or I wasn't getting the right results This ended up needing to creating another cover design and creating more.

Another is finding out that I do have to sign up to tax self-assessment even if i'm not getting any money out of it. So I have decided to not self-publish the book but print a paperback copy instead.
