Highlights of a silent film

In silent films the highlights are the black and white, the background music, text and the camera shot's, these are the main highlights in a silent film. The way silent films were made was that the camera is aimed at the actor and is keep there then when the person moves it then aiming at their back in the same spot, not moving or if the person was sat down, the camera shot would jump so that it was a wide shot and that the actor is sat for a small moment before standing up. Another is the text, where as watching the actor (Charlie Chaplin) doing funny stuff, people still need to understand what he was saying to make it easier to understand.

When making my film I did use all these things in to my film. I think that if I didn't add text people wouldn't understand what the film is about unlike Charlie Chaplin film he had less text because he's was more about the comedy. Plus since we couldn't do close ups you couldn't see my tattoo so with the text people could understand what it was I was showing him. Another was the music which is important because you need the music to go well with the film because if you're making a comedy and you used horror background music it won't look/sound right, so when doing my film I listen to the music along with the film to see if it fits.
